Akwa United Assistant Coach, Abdullahi Usman, has told Exclusivenews.com that Friday Apolos has the qualities of a striker and would score more goals for the Promise Keepers in the current campaign.

Umar spoke during a post match conference after Akwa Utd edged Kano Pillars 2-0 on Sunday in Uyo to win their first match of the season.

"Goal scoring is an art. It's like a seed. When you sow a seed, it doesn't just start bearing fruit immediately. But when it germinates, you start reaping the fruits", starts Umar.

"In our last away match, we scored one and conceded two. When we came back, we tried to make sure we took the boys through fitness and goal scoring tactics to ensure that goal scoring instinct is there in them and today you can see it. So, scoring two goals, for me, is not a surprise to me but a stepping stone for the team.

"Apolos is a young player that has the potential to become a great striker. He's gradually stepping up in his role as a striker.

"Yes, he came from the bench in our last match at away to score. Today, he's come from the bench again to score. It doesn't matter when he's introduced in a game.

"Whether he starts or comes from bench is the coaches decision", Umar said.

Apolos scored his second goal of the season against Kano Pillars on Sunday in Uyo with only nine minutes before the final whistle.
