…. Vows to continue to put Aba on the world map.

Youths in the country, constitute a greater percentage of the nation’s active population,  and the challenge currently facing  youths is unemployment, as lack of job opportunities, has made many youths to desperately want to leave the shores of Nigeria in search of greener pastures.

With this in mind, the Umu-Aba connect a social, charity and Advocacy association, that has its members drawn from well established and successful intellectuals, businessmen and community leaders and spread across the world, at the weekend successfully trained 250 youths in Aba on various skill acquisition programmes.

The President  of Umu-Aba Connect, Dr Chima Anyaso, while delivering his address during the graduation of 250 youths trained by the association, emphasized on the need for Abia youths, to embrace skill acquisition for self-reliance and contribute to the socio-economy of the state.

He added that the skill acquisition programme, which was conceived and nortured by the Umu- Aba Connect association, has showed commitment to equipping the youths of Aba and it's environs with skills that will help them to be successful in life.

Also speaking, a stakeholder of the association, and traditional prime minister of igbo’s in Ghana, Honourable Chief Uche Udo Agwu, maintained that the vision of the Umu-Aba connect, won't just dwell on the delivery of the skill certificates, but will continue to empower Aba youths with the necessary tools to excel in all aspects of life,.

Chief Uche Agwu, who was born and breed in Aba, charged the awardees to always reach out to the Umu-Aba Connect Association, for moral and financial support.

 

Some of the awardees, while speaking to newsmen, expressed delight and thanked the association for the love shown them through skill acquisition, and called on other spirited individuals and groups In the state to emulate what the Umu -Aba connect Association is doing to help youths in Aba.

High point of the event was the issuance of two hundred and fifty, skill acquisition certificates Aba youths different skills such as Make-ups,  Backery, Solar Installation, photography, Fashion and Design, amongst others.

Members of the Umu -Aba connect also paid a solidarity visit to the mayor of Aba, Hon. Uchechukwu Wogu, and also visited the Portharcourt road in Aba, to see the ongoing construction work on the road.

The Umu- Aba connect is a Social, Charity Advocacy association of Umu Aba, all over the world that connects and empowers the local communities in Aba, through giving-back projects and youth empowerment programmes, medical outreaches and caring for the less privileged.
