The Nigeria Police Command in Asaba, Delta State, has declared two brothers, Akpesiri Rex Otobo and Emuejevoke Otobo, wanted over alleged involvement in same-sex activities.

According to reports, the case was filed by Mr. Donald Eboagwu, who is identified as the father-in-law of Akpesiri Rex Otobo. He alleged that the brothers were part of a homosexual group, an act criminalized under Nigerian law.

Efforts by the police to arrest the duo have reportedly been unsuccessful, leading the authorities to declare both brothers wanted formally.

A police statement urged members of the public with useful information regarding their whereabouts to come forward, assuring that any such information would be treated confidentially.

Same-sex relationships are prohibited under Nigeria’s Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act of 2014, which criminalizes not only marriages and civil unions but also public displays of affection and association with LGBTQ+ groups.

As of the time of this report, the brothers remain at large. The police investigation is ongoing.
