Armed robbers don enter University of Ibadan (UI) again, come steal plenty students’ phones and other valuables wey worth thousands of naira. Di attack happun for Awolowo Hall of Residence around 4 am to 5 am on Saturday morning.

 

According to reports from FIJ, di robbers target at least two rooms for ground floor of Block C, wey be where some returning students dey stay.

 

Dem first remove all di light bulbs for corridor and bathroom to make everywhere dark before dem force enter di rooms.

 

One student wey no wan make dem call im name talk say:

 

“Dem no reach my block, but I hear say one of dem carry gun. Wetin I sabi be say dem thief plenty phones and accessories from some students. School management and security people wey dem dey call Abefele don come check di matter. But our security men no dey too sharp, so e no too hard for di thieves enter.”

 

Another student wey see wetin happun tok say:

 

“Na two men dem be. Dem enter through di gate wey face Awo Mount Zion. I no sabi how dem take waka comot, but na one Awoite wey see dem first shout, na im make people wake up and rush come outside. I hear say dem steal like six phones.”

 

Di hall management later confirm di robbery for one statement wey dem release. Dem talk say:

 

“Around 4 am, two thieves break enter di hall and rob some residents for Block C. Di thieves carry weapon and mostly steal mobile phones. But nobody report say dem wound anybody.”

 

Dem still add say dem don start investigation with di help of Abefele and di police. But some students talk say even though di robbers no too show gun, dem still dey threaten some girls say dem go beat dem if dem no gree give up dia things.

 

Di UI Public Relations Officer also confirm di matter. She talk say:

 

“I call di warden, and e tell me say di thing really happun. Na only one thief dem see wey carry two ropes and steal phones. Dem don begin track one of di stolen phones.”

 

She still add say dem don dey discuss with police authorities to carry out better investigation.

 

UI Hostel Don Suffer Plenty Robbery Attacks Before

 

Dis no be di first time Obafemi Awolowo Hall (Awo Hall) go face armed robbery attack. For 2019, armed robbers shoot gun anyhow before dem steal phones, money, and other valuables from students. That time, at least two students wound.

 

That same year, Abdulsalami Abubakar Hall, wey be postgraduate hostel, also suffer attack. Around 2 am, like 15 armed robbers enter female wing, come thief valuables. Two male students wound as dem try stop di robbers from escaping.

 

Di students for UI dey call for better security make dem no dey live in fear again.
