Salim Lawal knocks on Super Eagles' door with another goal in Europe
Former Flying Eagles striker, Salim Fago Lawal continued his terrific form with another goal for NK Istra in the 2-0 victory over Rijeka in the Croatian top flight league played on Sunday evening, reports www.totorinews.com
Lawal opened scoring for his side in the 28th minute after he beautifully jabbed the ball into the net off a pullout from Mateo Lisica to the delight of the home fans.
The Mavlon Fc product, rated as the fastest player in Europe this season was a torn in the flesh of Rijeka defence, as he operated from the left side of the attack causing anxious moments for the visitors.
It was not of such nervy situation in the box of Rijeka that resulted into the second goal scored by Vinko Rosic in the 44th minute courtsey of an assist by Lawal.
The job was done in the first half as efforts by Rijeka to bounce back into reckoning in the game was resolutely resisted by the defence of Istra.
At 22 years, there is no doubt that Lawal has all it takes to be invited to the Super Eagles as he continues to bang in the goals for NK Istra in the Croatian elite league.
The star of 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup in Argentina where he scored against Italy, has scored six goals so far this season and top European clubs are josstling for his services as the football world looks forward to the summer transfer market in Europe.
Super Eagles will participate in four- nation international tournament comprising of Nigeria, Ghana, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago tagged Unity Cup in England in May.
