Oyi Arcdeaconry have emerged champions of the 2023 Bishop Owen Nwokolo Anglican Children's Ministry, ACM, Football Competition following an emphatic 3-0 thumping of Nnobi Arcdeaconry in the thrilling final, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

The final match was decided at the All Saints Cathedral Football field, Onitsha, with top football dignitaries within and outside the Anglican Community in attendance.

Cup donor and tournament sponsor, Bishop Owen Nwokolo, was represented on the final day by his wife, Dr Mrs Elsie Nwokolo,(Mama Niger), who is also the President, Diocese On The Niger Women Ministries.

She performed the honorary duty of presenting the Bishop Owen Nwokolo trophy to the captain of the champions, Oyi Archdeaconry.

In the third place match that preceded the final, Awada Archdeaconry defeated Onitsha South Archdeaconry 1-0 to go home with the bronze medal.

Sir Victor Nwangwu, who headed the Organising committee and Director of Sports in the Diocese On the Niger, was thrilled that the tournament came to a fitting end without any injuries.

"We've to thank God that we've concluded yet another edition of the competition without any incident, particularly injures to the players or even officials.

"We're also grateful to the Bishop for keeping the youth of the church physically competitive by sponsoring the competition and end ensuring its sustainable in the face of the prevailing economic situation in the country.

"We than 'Mama Niger' for squeezing out time to be here with us in the final and personally performing the trophy presentation ceremony.

"The competition is aimed at keeping the Anglican Children healthy as it's said, 'all works and no play makes Jack a dull boy'. We thank everybody who found time to come and we pray all a safe journey back home", Sir Victor Nwangwu said to Exclusivenews.com.ng.
