Organisers of the annual Provicial Football Competition have confirmed Tuesday, May 22, as date for the final of this year's edition of the competition, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

According to an elaborate program for the final and third place match rolled by the organisers, the epic final match between Awka Province and Diocese on the Niger will take center stage at the Awka City Stadium at 10.am on Tuesday, 22 May, 2024.

 "His Grace, the Archbishop has given his consent for the finals of the Provincial Football Competition which he will honour with his august presence as the Guest of Honour", a memo by the Sports Secretary/TA, Sir Victor Nwangwu, and sighted by Exclusivenews.com.ng said.

Prior to the big final showdown, Ogbaru and Nnewi Provinces will cross each other's path in the third place match billed for Rojenny Stadium, Oba, on Monday, May 21.

The match will get underway at 2pm with the
Rt. Rev. Ndubuisi Obi, Bishop of Nnewi as the Guest of Honour.

24 hours later, the train will move to Awka City Stadium for the big one involving Awka and Diocese On the Niger (Onitsha).

"His Grace, Most Reverend Alexandar Ibezim. PhD, JP, will be the Guest of Honour for the final match", Nwangwu added in the memo.

The competition, checks revealed, is not whole and entirely for football alone as it equally involves Athletics.

But the memo hinted that date for the Athletics final has not been confirmed.

"The new date for Athletics event will be announced later", the memo concluded.
