NLO Set To Activate Article 2:06 ( 1-4) On Defaulting Clubs
The Nationwide League One Secretariat is set to activate the relevant sections of its rules and regulations as it affects the withdrawal of teams from the league.
In a memo to the State FA's, the Secretariat drew the attention of
all the clubs both in division one and the division two that there were rules and regulations that need to be
implemented.
Citing Article 2.06 which deals with WITHDRAWAL, the Secretariat said Article 2.06
(1) Any club that withdraws expressly shall forfeit its registration fees and status.
(2). Any Club that withdraws from the League after the fixtures have been made but before the
commencement shall be liable to a fine of N50, 000.00 payable to the NLO. (The State FA shall be notified of
the sanction and the affected Club must pay the fine before they can be involved in any state football
activities) The club shall be withdrawn from the league completely and a replacement be made from the
lower division among the best losers who fails to secure promotion.
(3). If a club withdraws after the first round, it shall be expelled from the competition and will not be
eligible for readmission. All its results of matches (Home and Away) played shall be cancelled.
(4). No Club can withdraw after the commencement of the season. If a club withdraws; it shall be
expelled from the competition and will not be eligible for readmission. All officials of such clubs shall be
banned for (2) years.
The Secretariat promised to release their names in due course. This action they said is to bring sanity to the League.
