The Niger State Police Command don arrest one 18-year-old boy wey dem identify as Victor Ugwu for allegedly pretend to be woman online and use am do dating scam.

 

According to Wasiu Abiodun, the Police Public Relations Officer for Niger State, the suspect wey dey live for Easy Life Street, Kaduna Road, was nabbed on October 16, 2025, by Maje Division patrol team after dem jam am for one public argument with another man, Peter, wey live for the same area.

 

As police separate the fight, Peter tell dem say na Victor him give money make he help am connect with one babe. But instead, Victor allegedly dress like woman, snap pictures of himself, and send am to Peter, dey collect money under false pretense.

“Surprisingly, Victor dress like woman, take selfie and send am to Peter for social media, dey request money,” Abiodun talk.

 

When police search Victor house, dem recover female wig and clothes wey he dey use disguise himself as woman. During interrogation, Victor confess say na true, and say no be only Peter he scam — he don send those same pictures to plenty other people on Facebook and TikTok.

 

He also talk say him dey do am to gather followers and views make he qualify for monetisation on those apps.

“He confess say he dey run dating scam and dey use the pictures to attract 1,000 followers and views for monetisation purposes,” the police tok-tok person add.

The police say the matter still dey under investigation, and dem go continue to track how far Victor don go with this fake identity hustle.

The authorities warn people make dem shine eye before dem trust anybody online — especially when dem never meet face-to-face. Dem also advise make people no dey send money to strangers wey dem jam only for internet.
