Nasarawa United Suffers Heartbreak Over Defeat To Plateau United
Nasarawa United suffered a heartbreaking 2-0 defeat to Plateau United in their NPFL25 match-day thirteen derby clash. Despite dominating the first half, creating several scoring opportunities, and controlling possession, the Solid Miners failed to capitalize on their chances.
Qamal Adegoke came close to opening the scoring in the 2nd minute, but his glancing header went over the crossbar. Captain King Osanga also forced Plateau United's goalkeeper, Emeka Nwabulu, into a spectacular save in the 22nd minute.
However, the Peace Boys turned the tables in the second half, scoring two goals within 33 minutes. Shina Kumater broke the deadlock in the 50th minute, and Olawale Doyeni sealed the win from the spot in the 83rd minute.
The loss leaves Nasarawa United rooted in 20th position with 12 points, while Plateau United leapfrogged to 14th position with 15 points. Nasarawa United's Technical Director, Kabir Dogo, expressed optimism despite the loss, saying, "We failed to take our chances, and our concentration lapsed in the second half... We are still optimistic to turn the tide around for our good."
