Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Football Association and Patron of the FCT Judo Association, Adam Mohammed Moucktar, has reiterated the vital role of sports in developing future leaders.

He made this known at the FCT Grassroots Junior Judo Championship held in Abuja, which saw the participation of over fifty young athletes from various states.

"This event goes beyond being just a competition. It is a celebration of discipline, respect, courage, and the boundless potential of our youth," Moucktar said. "Judo teaches more than self-discipline—it builds character, fosters unity, and empowers young people to believe in themselves and to work hard to achieve their dreams. Our investment in grassroots sports development, like this judo championship, is an investment in the future of Nigeria."

Moucktar emphasized his belief that talent is everywhere, but opportunities are what young athletes need to shine. “That is why I am deeply committed to sponsoring and supporting initiatives that provide platforms for our young athletes to grow, compete, and become champions—both on and off the mat,” he added.

He also charged the young judokas to showcase their skills and hard work, while commending the dedication of coaches, organizers, and parents. “Their efforts are shaping the next generation of disciplined, focused, and strong Nigerians. Let us continue to build a brighter future for Nigerian sports, starting at the grassroots,” he concluded.

Speaking further, Moucktar revealed his personal passion for judo. “I have a deep interest in the sport because it embodies discipline and character. I’ve followed judo for years and decided to extend my support by organizing this grassroots tournament. It's truly heartening to see young boys and girls from different states come to the FCT to compete. Who knows—the next Olympic champion might emerge from this initiative.”

Secretary of the FCT Judo Association, Emmanuel Gankon, expressed appreciation for Moucktar’s sponsorship and support. “This competition builds upon the foundation our association has laid, and the sponsor has played a huge role by covering logistics, transport, accommodation, and providing tokens of appreciation for winners in various categories. We are all excited and encouraged by the success of this program,” he said.
