May Yul Edochie Addresses Backlash Over Divorce, Clarifies Stance on Marriage

Nigerian actress May Yul Edochie has responded to criticism from men following her divorce filing from ex-husband Yul Edochie in 2023. In a recent interview on AY Makun's Glasshouse podcast, May sought to dispel misconceptions about her views on marriage and family.

"Some men perceive me as influencing their wives negatively," she stated, clarifying that she values marriage as the foundation of family life. "Ideally, marriage is the basis of family, and without family, there would be no society."

May emphasized that she is not advocating for divorce or separation, contrary to public perception. "I am not an advocate for divorce," she stressed.

This clarification comes after May filed for divorce from Yul Edochie due to adultery, citing the 1970 Marriage Act. She also sought ₦100 million in damages from Yul and his second wife, Judy Austin.

Additionally, May filed a restraining order against Yul, citing security concerns and erratic behavior. This measure aimed to protect herself and their children.
