The Enugu State Police Command has moved swiftly to address the tragic shooting of renowned Ogene musician, Chikezie Okezie Nwamba, also known as Igbo-Jah, by a policeman. Commissioner of Police, Kanayo Uzuegbu, visited the family of the deceased, reassuring them and the people of Enugu State that justice would be served promptly.

The command's Criminal Investigation Department has concluded its investigation, and an orderly room trial of the implicated Police Inspector, Ozonwanji Joseph, has commenced. Joseph, attached to the Anti-Cult Tactical Squad (ACTS) unit, is currently in custody and will face the full weight of the law.

To facilitate a thorough review of the unit's operations, Commissioner Uzuegbu has ordered the immediate redeployment of the ACTS unit's Commander, Ekeleme Chidobe. This move aims to address reports of alleged illegal activities within the unit.

Uzuegbu reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring justice is served and maintaining professionalism among police officers. He urged Nigerians to keep faith in the police and support them in bringing the case to a justifiable conclusion.

The incident occurred on  October 25, 2024, at the Tactical Squad's Headquarters, where Igbo-Jah was visiting. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, but a full-scale investigation is underway to uncover the facts.
