The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a **minimum cut-off mark of 150** for admission into Nigerian universities for the 2025/2026 academic session. This decision was made on Tuesday during the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions, held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.

According to JAMB, other tertiary institutions will have different cut-off points. Colleges of nursing will require a minimum of 140 marks, while colleges of agriculture and colleges of education have set their cut-off at 100 marks. Polytechnics will also adhere to a 100-mark cut-off.

 “The minimum admissible scores for admissions for the next academic session have been fixed at 150 for universities, 100 for polytechnics, 100 for colleges of education, and 140 for colleges of nursing sciences by the stakeholders (Heads of Tertiary Institutions).”

In a related development, the Federal Government has stipulated that the minimum admissible age for candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions across Nigeria is now 16 years.

This directive was announced by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, during the same 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions. The new age requirement aims to ensure that students enrolling in higher education institutions possess a certain level of maturity for academic rigour and campus life.

Further details regarding the implementation of these new policies are expected to be released by JAMB and the Ministry of Education in the coming weeks.
