Daniel Ufomadu, a Nigeria born but France based Football Manager/Player agent has said the Super Eagles still have a whole lot of work to do especially in their attacking line if they must achieve their goal of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals in Mexico/Canada/USA, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

Ufomadu was part of the patriotic cheering crowd when Nigeria engaged Rwanda in the final group D match of the 2025 AFCON billed to hold in Morocco.

Rwanda came from behind to edge Super Eagles 2-1 in the 'dead rubber' game, with the three time African Champions, Nigeria, having booked their place in the Morocco showpiece following a 1-1 draw with Benin Republic in Ivory Coast four days earlier.

"The Super Eagles did pretty well in the first half despite going into the half time break on a scoreless note", starts Ufomba when Exclusivenews.com.ng accosted him at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, venue of the match.

"Immediately after the restart for the second half, the Eagles stepped up their game in a bid to score, which they eventually did.

"But soon after, they lost control of the midfield which allowed the Rwandan Amavubi to take supreme control of the midfield, leading to their two goals in the process and running home with a 2-1 win.

"What this scenario means is that the Super Eagles have a whole lot of work to do, especially in the midfield and attack if they must qualify for the FIFA World Cup finals in Mexico/Canada/USA in 2026".

Ufomba was particularly worried that Super Eagles frontline was not as efficient in the final third despite parading big stars like Victor Boniface and Victor Osimhen.

"The Super Eagles front men, I must say the least, did not live up to expectation and indeed, need to improve so they could be able to deliver when it really matters".

With Super Eagles already through to the 2025 AFCON finals in Morocco, Ufomba, who is also a football pundit, advised that coach Eguavoen (if he would still be in charge of the team then), should do a lot of work in the midfield department so as to make the attack clinical.

"I think Eguavoen should do a lot to get the Super Eagles midfield effectively working. This will make the attacking line more potent and clinical.

"He should also not overlook the defense line. But I think with the likes of Gabriel Osho in the Eagles backline, there's a bit of balance in that area.

"The goalkeepers are good but sometimes, they appear to lose concentration. So, Coach Eguavoen, if it happens that he's the one to go for the Nations Cup, he should work more in the attack so that the team could be able to score more goals that could enable the team to advance in the tournament".
