Dr. Olukayode Egbetokun, the Inspector General of Police, has praised the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for its dedication to football development in Nigeria. He acknowledged that football has the power to unite Nigerians across physical, mental, and economic boundaries . During a courtesy visit from NFF leaders, led by President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, Egbetokun noted that crime rates decrease when national teams or clubs are playing.

 Egbetokun promised to continue to support the NFF in its efforts to developing football in Nigeria. 


In his response, the NFF President Ibrahim Gusau thanked Egbetokun for swiftly deploying security personnel to football matches when requested. 

He appealed for the revival of Police Football Team that was once strong in Nigeria Football. He appealed for special quota for Sports Personnel to be enlisted into  the Police Force and collaboration on special training for security personnel at match venues, as per FIFA's new template.

This exchange highlights the mutual appreciation and cooperation between the Nigeria Police Force and the NFF in promoting football development and security in Nigeria.
