The Director of Sports for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Luka Istifanus, has praised the Honourable Minister of FCT, His Excellency Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, for his unwavering commitment to sports development as Team FCT departs for the National Youth Games in Asaba.

Luka Istifanus, expressed his gratitude for the unwavering support from the Honourable Minister of FCT, His Excellency Ezenwo Nyesom Wike. According to Mr. Istifanus, the minister promptly approved and released the budget for the games, ensuring seamless preparations for camp, travel logistics, and other essential arrangements.

“This is the first time we’ve secured funds without any delays for a major event like the youth games. The Minister’s support has been incredible, and he’s passionate about grassroots sports development in the FCT. I am confident we’ll surpass our previous achievements at these games,” said Mr. Istifanus.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) contingent for the National Youth Games in Asaba departed on September 10th, 2024, and has arrived safely. The team, consisting of 107 athletes and 35 officials, is set to compete in 21 different sports, aiming to improve upon their 7th-place finish in the previous two editions.

In recent years, FCT has consistently improved its performance at both the National Youth Games and senior sports festivals, breaking into the top 10 for the first time in history. The team is determined to continue this upward trajectory in Asaba.
