Favour Enodumwenben scored on the dot of half time whistle as Fortress Ladies ran out 1-0 winners over Castmog FC in one of the group one matches of the ongoing Ifeanyi Chiejine Memorial Cup Championship here in Asaba, Delta State.

The crunchy clash, the fourth on the day's menu, had looked like heading for a first half stalemate before Favour struck.

Back from the recess, the two teams adjusted their tactics with Fortress Ladies being patient enough, trying to draw out their opponents who kept pouring out forward in numbers.

But ironically, the expected counter opportunity didn't fall in pleasant places for them to pounce on.

Perhaps, the closest Fortress Ladies came to doubling their advantage was midway into the second period but the offside flag went up against one of the attackers for interfering with play, much to the chagrin of their coaches.

Fortress Ladies now have six points from two wins and a defeat in three group games.

In other games earlier decided today, Delta Babes defeated Phoenix Queens 1-0, same scoreline with which Unification Ladies edged Moje Queens.

The third game of the day between Papa Soccer of Lagos and Giant Empress ended in a 1-1 draw.
