For the second time in less than four weeks, Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, don order make dem close another big market for the state.

 

The market wey dem close na New Auto Spare Parts Association (NASPA) Market for Nkwo Nnewi. State government talk say dem close am because traders no comply well with the order wey stop Monday sit-at-home wey Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) introduce before.

 

Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, talk this one for statement wey dem release on Monday. According to am, the market go close from midnight of February 23, 2026, and e go reopen on Monday, March 2, 2026.

 

State government talk say the closure follow “low compliance” with Governor Soludo order to end Monday sit-at-home for the state.

 

Dem say Special Adviser on Trade and Markets, Chief Evarist Uba, carry the order go the market on behalf of the governor. E go there with Special Adviser on Security, AVM Ben Chiobi (Rtd), and Mayor of Nnewi, Hon. Echezona Anazodo.

 

Government warn traders and customers make dem no near the market until next Monday to avoid wahala with security agents.

 

Dem also warn say if compliance no improve after the market reopen, dem fit extend the closure or add more sanctions.

 

Meanwhile, government talk say normal activities don return for Anambra on Mondays since the governor give order for late January 2026 to stop sit-at-home and make business resume fully for the state.
