One Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ibrahim Isa Makwarari, don appear for Magistrate Court No. 53 for Normansland, Kano, on Tuesday, over allegation say e involve for illegal sale of government and community land.

 

Kano State Police Command accuse di cleric say e participate for selling plots of land wey belong to government and host communities, wey police say break existing land laws and regulations.

 

Di case come before Magistrate Mustapha Sa’ad Datti. For court, lawyer wey stand for di cleric tell di court say defence no ready to continue di case, because another matter wey concern di cleric still dey for higher court for di state.

 

As e dey reply, prosecution lawyer, Barrister Nura, tell di court say dem first report di matter on November 18, 2025. E add say police don earlier send di case file go Kano State Ministry of Justice make dem give legal advice on whether di evidence strong enough for prosecution or if dem go drop di matter.

 

After e hear from both sides, Magistrate Datti adjourn di case go Wednesday, January 21, 2026. Di court go that day read di charges properly and also consider bail application for di defendant.
