A Board member of the Nigerian Football Federation and the Former Chairperson of the Nigerian Women Football League Ms Aisha Falode thanked the president of the Nigerian Football Federation Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau for believing and giving Women the opportunity to serve in positions of Leadership.

She made this known as a guest at the most popular and followed sports Radio in Nigeria Brilla sports Radio with Ogechukwukanma Ogwo.

” I must appreciate Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau for taking it upon himself to embrace Women in positions of Leadership.
The appointment of the Chairperson of the Referees Appointment committee in the person of FIFA Faith Irabor Rtd is a good reference point.
I consider the Referees appointment committee as the most important standing committee of the Nigerian Football Federation because there lies the credibility and transparency of the various leagues , once that is achieved every other components follows “.

She also spoke on how the NFF President whom she described as a patient man that gives listening ears to everyone regardless of their gender.

” It is an all inclusive board with three women, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau also graciously listened to me , endorsed and appointed Ms Nkechi Obi as the Chairperson of the NWFL to consolidate and improve the various positive interventions by the past chairperson “.

Aisha Falode expressed happiness with the state of the league and pointed out the fact that it robbed on the Super Falcons of Nigeria at the recently concluded world cup in Australia and New Zealand.
” Most of the players are products of the women’s league in the past.
The national U17 and U20 female national teams also gave good account of themselves at the world stage.

My greatest worry then when I took over was tackling the ceaseless spate of Walk overs even from home teams, the NWFL took it upon herself to shoulder the burden of Idemnities of match officials which eventually gave room to a transparent and credible league. This act alone made women football stakeholders, the media and fans courageously come out to match venues having it in mind that a game must take place.
