Ebonyi Governor Orders Arrest of 6 for Alleged Diversion of Health Materials
Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has ordered the arrest and prosecution of six individuals, including Mr. Ndukwe Ayansi, for allegedly diverting materials meant for the state's Ministry of Health.
The governor's Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor, revealed that Governor Nwifuru discovered a Toyota Dyana truck loading registers, books, and other materials from the Ministry of Health's warehouse while on his way to inspect ongoing projects.
Upon inquiry, the governor found that patients' data registers, cards, and other documents were being sold without government approval. He described the action as sabotage to the government's efforts to reposition the health sector.
In a video circulating on social media, Governor Nwifuru was seen admonishing the culprits, stating that he had spent over N6 billion on equipment for primary health care centers and general hospitals, only to have government documents sold without approval.
The suspects have been handed over to the police for investigation and prosecution.
