City FC of Abuja began their invitation tour to Spain with a score draw with Villarreal Team B on Thursday. 

The match which was played at the Ciudad Deportiva Villarreal CF training pitch, saw the Nigerians  drawing the first blood  through Henry David who emerged the Most Valuable Player in the just concluded NALCOMA Pre Season tournament  before Villarreal team equalise. Henry David also  won the man of the match in the encounter. 

The City boys will test their might against the Villarreal Team A on Friday. They are expected to play five matches before returning to Nigeria to take part in the NNL season which has been fixed to commence on 28 October. 

Speaking to exclusivenews.com.ng from Spain, the Chairman of City FC Chidi Okonkwo said "We were invited by Villarreal F.C for a week tournament as part of the partnership between Villarreal and City FC. We just finished our match with the Villarreal B which ended 1 - 1. On Friday we are playing the Villarreal Team A which is the main team, and we will have three other matches to play before we return to Nigeria to participate in the league".

He was optimistic that experience from the tour will surely spur the team to better performance in 2023 League season.
