Hugo Broos, Bafana Bafana Coach says they are not under pressure to replicate the results of their last two visits to Super Eagles, remarkably on the same Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, otherwise known as Nest of Champions, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

South Africa earned a shock 2-0 victory and later picked a 2-2 draw against Super Eagles in Uyo, results that later ruined Nigeria's Qatar 2022 World Cup dream.

Now, as both sides get set for a third clash at same Nest of Champions in yet another World Cup qualifier, Broos, a Belgian, insists that instead, its the Super Eagles that are under pressure for the fact that they are playing at home infront of their fans and the urgent need to win and stand a potential chance of making it the USA/Mexico/Canada 2026 FIFA World Cup finals.

During a crowded prematch Press Conference Thursday night in Uyo, Broos made it clear that Super Eagles are under pressure to impress their home fans, keep their World Cup qualification alive, having missed the last Mundial in Qatar.

"We're not under any pressure at all. Instead, it the Super Eagles that are under pressure", starts Broos, a Belgian.

"We’re no longer afraid, not scared of Nigeria’s ‘Super players’. the onus is on Nigeria not to disappoint their fans who missed the glamour of the last World Cup in Qatar because the Super Eagles did not participate,” Broos said.

“So, they have to now prove to their fans that their 2023 AFCON feat was not a fluke. We have made our mark and South Africans now believe in Bafana Bafana.

"We proved this during the last Nations Cup, hence our fans in South Africa believe in Bafana Bafana because of their 2023 Nations Cup feat.”

The 72-year-old gaffer said that Super Eagles’ win against South Africa at the 2023 AFCON semifinal was ‘penalty aided’, stressing that this time out, it is going to be a ‘straight game’.

“We’ve put behind the AFCON defeat to Super Eagles. The penalty against us paved way for that (Eagles’ win). But this time, it’s going to be a straight game, a win, a draw, or loss.

“We’re no longer scared about Nigeria’s Super Eagles, having demystified them at the Nations Cup.”

On Victor Osimhen's absence, Broos says it gives his team no joy or sadness.

"He plays or not is Nigeria's gain or pain, not Bafana Bafana", Broos added.

"It's no joy for us and we don't feel it any way", the Bafana Bafana Coach submitted.
