Awka, the capital city of Anambra State will explode in 'Festival of football' July 13 as no fewer than 15 clubs jostle for promotion in the 2024 NLO2 Playoffs, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

With Anambra State gradually but steadily turning to 'Mecca of football' in the South East, courtesy of the State FA headed by Ex Super Eagles defender, Chikelue Iloenyosi, the Playoffs will mark the second in quick succession tAwka City Stadium had been the action spot for the fourth tier domestic league football showpiece.

Three teams, Ozalla Football Academy, Hopeland Football Academy and Rangels are hoisting Anambra State flag in the Playoffs.

Last year, 2023, Ozalla FA missed the promotion cut by the hair's margin, following a 1-0 defeat by Ikukuoma FC in the final match.

This time out, it will be a new beginning for the Ikenna Osueke charges despite Imo dominating the 15-team contest with as many as nine (9) teams.

Enugu State has one team, Abia and Ebony has one team respectively.

It's all credit to the state FA who has continued to attract big time football to the state in a bid to ensure that the astro-turf at Awka City Stadium does not lie fallow but put into constant use.

Besides, such competitions have played the role of reawakening football consciousness amongst the youth of the state who now take more active part in the game, thereby shurning criminalty and other vices
