On June 27, 2024, the people of Anambra will come together to honor Princess Alban Ugonwaezeh Agugo for her significant contributions to sports development in the state and Nigeria at large.

Princess Alban Ugonwaezeh Agugo, a native of Adazi-Nnukwu in Anaocha Local Government Area, holds a degree in Educational Psychology and master's  in Educational Administration and Planning . Recently, she received a scholarship from World Rugby to study International Sports Management at Capgemini University and Harvard Business school, USA .She will join twenty-four scholars from around the world. Additionally, she will also get grants from World Rugby to develop women rugby in Nigeria, besides, the  fully sponsored trip to the Rugby World Cup in England in 2025 by world Rugby 

Earlier this year, Princess Alban was awarded a similar scholarship by Rugby Africa to study Sports Management at Lunex University in Luxembourg, making her the first Nigerian to benefit from such an initiative at the continental level.

Now, having gained recognition from both Nigeria,Africa and the world , Princess Alban will be honored by her people at a special event scheduled to take place at Hilton Leisure in Awka.

Expressing her gratitude, Princess Ugonwaezeh said, "It is truly amazing that my people have deemed it fit to recognize me. This recognition of my efforts is quite commendable and will definitely motivate me to do more by bringing honor to my community and my state, and by providing opportunities for my people through sports."
