The Zaoch Boxing Promotion has officially concluded arrangements for its much-anticipated boxing tournament, scheduled to take place on May 31, 2025, at the Monoliza Recreational Event Center, Area 11, Garki, Abuja.

According to the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Zacheaus Emmanuel Olushola, the event will feature 12 professional boxers from both within Nigeria and abroad, aiming to reignite interest and investment in the sport of boxing within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and its surrounding areas.

“This competition is being organized to reposition the game of boxing in the FCT and its environs,” Olushola said. “There’s so much potential here, and we’re ready to showcase it.”

Olushola, a former amateur boxer who transitioned to the professional scene in 1995, brings a wealth of experience to the initiative. His career took him across Africa and Europe, fighting in countries including Ghana, Mali, Benin Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, and notably France, where he earned accolades in the light middleweight division.

He believes that with the support of government and private sector stakeholders, boxing in Nigeria can thrive again. “If more people—both from within the country and abroad—lend their support, we’ll witness a revival of boxing like never before. People are already coming from London and across Nigeria to witness this historic event.”

As the countdown to the tournament begins, boxing fans and sports lovers are encouraged to mark their calendars and be present for what promises to be a landmark event in Nigerian boxing history.
