An air of joy and excitement enveloped Lace Hotel, Suleja, on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, as the leading non-governmental organization, Ella Helps Foundation, distributed food items worth millions of naira to more than 160 widows, needy individuals, and the less privileged within Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State and its environs.

The event is Ella Foundation part on alleviating the suffering of the poor following release of the National Multidimensional Poverty Index Report by the National Bureau of Statistics, revealing that 133 million Nigerians lack access to good food, quality healthcare, and standard education.

During the occasion, Mrs. Christy Ella Edwin, the Pioneer and Founder of Ella Helps Foundation, expressed gratitude to the beneficiaries and dignitaries present for their participation. She emphasized that the foundation's establishment stemmed from a passion to contribute positively to society.

"I am short of words. I am excited. I am so happy for the beneficiaries for identifying with me out of the love they have for me. The giveaway is being done all for the sake of humanity," Mrs. Ella Edwin remarked.

Reiterating the philanthropic vision of the foundation, she disclosed that over 160 beneficiaries were selected to benefit from this gesture to help them celebrate the Yuletide season.

Dr. Ikeji Ebeabuchi, the event's chairman, emphasized in his welcome address that the foundation is dedicated to enhancing the psychological and spiritual well-being of the poor and needy, regardless of tribe or religion. He added that the foundation plans to extend its philanthropic efforts to hospitals.

A diverse group of beneficiaries expressed their gratitude, with Mr. Mohammed Abdullahi, Chairman of the Blind, Suleja Local Government Chapter, acknowledging the foundation's consistent support for people with disabilities.

"We are happy for what the foundation is doing. We don't have a special community that thinks, considers, and supports us," said Mr. Abdullahi.

Salisu Tahiru, Vice Chairman of the Handicapped, Suleja Chapter, echoed the sentiment, expressing happiness with the foundation's kind gestures and offering prayers for its founder's continued success.

Representatives of widows, including Gloria Ifesinachi, praised the foundation for alleviating the suffering of widows.

The event also received goodwill messages from notable figures, including the Emir of Suleja, His Royal Highness Awwal Ibrahim, former Speaker Mallam Haruna Umar Daga, and Special Adviser Bashir Usman, among others. 

The gathering included members of the Suleja Emirate Council and representatives from both Muslim and Christian clergy.

Ella Helps Foundation also paid a visit to the Suleja General Hospital, in Niger State where the bills of over 50 persons were settled and other items issued.

It also visited orphanage homes and replicated same goodwill.
