The Presidency has responded to a US court ruling directing the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to release records related to President Bola Tinubu's alleged involvement in a drug trafficking network. According to Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, there's nothing new in the reports, as they have been publicly available for over 30 years and didn't indict the Nigerian leader.

A US District Court in Washington, D.C., ruled on April 8, 2025, that the FBI and DEA must comply with Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and search for non-exempt documents connected to Tinubu.  The court case was initiated by Aaron Greenspan, founder of PlainSite, who requested information from six federal agencies regarding investigations into a heroin trafficking ring operating in Chicago in the early 1990s.

said there are no new Information. The Presidency claims that the reports in question are not new and have been in the public domain for decades. According to Onanuga, the reports did not indict President Tinubu. He said the Presidency's lawyers are currently examining the court's ruling.

The FBI and DEA have been ordered to process and release any non-exempt documents related to Tinubu. Both agencies must submit a joint status report on outstanding matters by May 2, 2025.
