Yobe Desert Stars Outclass Kada Warriors 3–0 in Damaturu to Boost NNL Super Eight Hopes

Yobe Desert Stars FC turned in a dominant performance on Sunday, defeating Kada Warriors FC 3–0 at the August 27th Stadium in Damaturu in a crucial 2024/25 Nigeria National League (NNL) Northern Conference D encounter.
The emphatic win keeps the Desert Stars firmly in the race for qualification to the NNL Super Eight tournament, as they edge closer to the 20-point mark required to top the group and secure a place in the promotion playoffs.
The Super Eight tournament—featuring four teams each from the NNL’s Southern and Northern Conferences—was ratified during the recent NNL Congress and media workshop held in Ikenne, Ogun State. The tournament’s host venue is yet to be announced.
Sunday’s victory not only strengthened Yobe Desert Stars’ position on the log but also reflected the effectiveness of the club’s ongoing revival under the leadership of Mohammed Alkali Achama Sarkiyo (S10 Z10) and his dedicated management team.
Their success has also been strongly supported by the financial and moral commitment of His Excellency, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, whose unwavering backing has been pivotal to the club’s resurgence.
With just two matches remaining—an away trip to Adamawa United FC in Numan and a home fixture against Basira FC of Lafiya—the team is targeting at least three more points to secure their Super Eight berth and keep their NPFL promotion dream alive.
Under Governor Buni’s visionary leadership and the operational prowess of Sarkiyo, Yobe Desert Stars have not only found form on the pitch but also succeeded in rekindling fan passion, both within and beyond the state.
The club’s recent momentum has reignited hopes of a return to the top tier of Nigerian football, with supporters rallying once again behind the iconic Northern club.
