 The Congress of the Nigeria Football Federation has pledged their full support to the Super Eagles in its quest to qualify for the FIFA World Cup USA/Mexico/Canada 2026.
The first two matchdays will be between November 13-21.

Two other match days will be played next year 2024 between June 3-11.

The Super Eagles are drawn in Group C with South Africa, Benin Republic, Zimbabwe, Rwanda and Lesotho.

Jose Peseiro’s side will have to play 10 matches to secure a place at the 2026 World Cup to be hosted by USA, Canada and Mexico.

 

The six other rounds of matches in this group will be played in 2025 between March and October, while between November 10-18, 2025, playoffs will be staged among the four best runners-up.

The Congress approved the Nigeria Football Federation’s 2024 Budget proposal of the sum of N14,494,469,293.00 (Fourteen Billion, Four Hundred and Ninety-Four Million, Four Hundred and Sixty-Nine Thousand and Two Hundred and Ninety-Three Naira) only, and also approved the NFF Financial Statements for the Year Ended 2022.

 The Congress went ahead to approved the change of name of the Nigeria Professional Football League to the Nigeria Premier Football League. 

 They also passed a vote of confidence on the Executive Committee of Nigeria Football Federation led by Ibrahim Musa Gusau.

 The Congress appreciated the efforts of the various National Teams, in particular the outstanding performance of the Super Falcons at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023, and the U17 girls’ bronze medal-winning effort at the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup India 2022.
