Former Nasarawa United Head Coach Bala Nikyu has given reasons why he applied for the job  of the Head Coach of the National U20 Male team, Flying Eagles.

Bala who said that his special interest to the development of young players both male and female motivated his actions.

According to the former National U13/U15 head coach, "after taking a critical look at the present Super Eagles and Super Falcons team, i see most of the players that i tutored at the youth levels doing excellently well for the country, i am further motivated to do more for the country at U20".

The Kaduna state born tactician who tutored the likes of Kelechi Ihenacho, Taiwo Awoniyi at the U13 level, and Chiamaka Nnadozie, Christy Ucheibe at Women U17 said he started his coaching career at the grassroot level." I started with Agric Lions FC, of Abuja in 1996 and promoted them to the National Division 1 League. Same to Villa Rocks FC, Abuja in 1998. I handled the all conquering SEC (Securities & Exchange Commission) FC from the amateur cadre to the Professional cadre from 2003 to 2006. I was at Wikki Tourist FC, Bauchi in NPFL in 2007, Plateau united FC, Jos 2008, FC Abuja 2009 Nasarawa United FC, Lafia, and Niger Tornadoes FC, Minna "

Bala who has the CAF A license was also the National U-13 & 15 Coach in 
2007 to 2010, Home Base Super Eagles
in 2009, Super Falcons Assistant Coach between 2010 and 201. He was the National Women U-17 (Flamingoes) head coach in 2014 .

Bala who has many laurels to his credit is a CAF/NFF COACHES Instructor, CAF A. License, CAF B License coach. He is a product of National Institute for Sports (NIS) where he had a  Diploma certificate.
