Who The Cap Fits.....

Who The Cap Fits.....
Who The Cap Fits.....

In 1705, famous British poet Daniel Defoe published a poem critical of the British parliament in it  he wrote, "Gentlemen, and if the Cap fits any Body let 'em wear it." The above axiom best suits the situation of Super Eagles Interim Coach and Enyimba FC coach Finidi George.

The former Super Eagles winger has in less than three years since his return to Nigerian football, managed Enyimba FC, a team he met at a not so good state but in just his second season led the former African Champions to their 9th Nigerian league crown.

A man of Finidi's calibre who had a successful playing career both with the national team and in Europe, winning the African Cup of Nations with Nigeria in 1994 and playing at the FIFA World Cup twice with The Super Eagles not forgetting winning multiple Dutch league titles and one UEFA Champions League with Ajax Amsterdam of Holland.  he won the above accolades all as an integral member of the teams.

The fact that he achieved a lot in his career, his personality coupled with his tactical prowess would surely command much respect from The Super Eagles players.

Finidi as an NPFL manager who has seen it all in the domestic scene, would most certainly contribute a lot in integrating the domestic league players with those playing abroad, as that would strengthen the league.

After serving as an assistant to out gone Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro, Finidi George appears to be a natural candidate to succeed the Portuguese as the substantive coach of Super Eagles.

He may not have gotten the best of results in his friendlies with Ghana and Mali (especially Mali) but one would agree with me that he had little time with the boys.

Finidi George has shown lots of quality and capacity required to head the country's men senior national team, Just as several indigenous coaches have been given the chance to handle the national team, Finidi should also move up the ladder in his coaching career, He is the man the cap fits, just like Daniel Defoe wrote "who the cap fits, let him wear it.
