A Nigerian woman, Tracy Mcwary, has advised women married to Delta men to always have a contingency plan before leaving their marriages, narrating how her ex-husband allegedly tried to stop her from leaving their home.

 

Tracy shared her experience in a Facebook post on Monday, November 10, 2025, recounting how her decision to walk away from her marriage nearly turned into a confrontation.

 

According to the mother of one, on the day she resolved to leave, her ex-husband, who was away from home at the time, instructed the security guard to lock the gate and used a car tracker to immobilise her vehicle in a bid to prevent her from leaving.

 

Unfazed, Tracy said she immediately reached out to her brothers — one of whom is a military officer — and they arrived at the house with their friends to assist her.

 

She also contacted a Deputy Commissioner of Police, who in turn linked her with an Area Commander, prompting the dispatch of police officers to the residence.

 

“I was married to a Delta man from Delta North Senatorial District, and I must say, it wasn’t easy leaving him,” she wrote.

“The day I decided to pack out, he instructed the security man to lock the gate and then locked my car using the tracker he had installed. I had to call my brothers, one of whom was in the military, and he arrived with his friends.”

 

Tracy said that as her ex-husband drove back home, hoping to stop her from leaving, he was shocked to meet her brothers, their friends, and the police waiting.

 

“He fled, and they followed him, but he managed to escape,” she added.

 

She eventually packed her belongings, called a towing van to take her car to the Gwarinpa Police Station for safekeeping, and later removed the tracker before retrieving her vehicle.

 

Concluding her post, she offered advice to other women in similar situations:

 

“When you marry a Delta man, and you want to leave, make a plan. Don’t just leave — PLAN!”
