The Chairman of the Nigeria National League George Aluo has advised clubs in the League to avoid any  act that will bring the league to disrepute, as the 2023/2024 Season begins this weekend. 

Addressing a press conference  in Lafia, Nasarawa State, which was aimed at heralding the new season, the veteran journalist said his Board will not hesitate to deal decisively with any team that engage in any act of hooliganism, during any of the League matches. 

According to him, teams have been advised to ensure maximum security during and after every match. "We will not hesitate to deal decisively on any team that engages in any act of hooliganism during any of our League matches. We will envoke the deduction of maximum points from teams that it's supporters engaged in such act".

He said that the first step towards actualization of fair play during matches, was the resolution of club coaches during their program in Ikenne, Ogun State, to ensure that they exchange warm handshakes before and after every match. 

The NNL was full of appreciation to the government of Nasarawa State for accepting to host the opening match of the 2023/2024 Nigeria National League at a very short notice. "We have seen that the Governor of Nasarawa State Engineer A. Sule is a Sports loving Governor, and he has made Nasarawa State a sports friendly state. He not only gave approval for the hosting of our curtain raiser League match in Lafia, he also promised to provide a football friendly environment at the Lafia City stadium for the match, this he achieved within the short notice".

The NNL Boss promised that his Board will provide a level playing environment for all the teams to exhibit their best of football.

In his address at the Press Conference, the Permanent Secretary in the Nasarawa State Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, Barrister Isaac Danladi appreciated the Board of the Nigeria National League for choosing Nasarawa State for the opening match of the season, and appreciated the Executive Governor of the State for his efforts in promoting Sports in the state, and promised that Nasarawa United will not only give a good account of themselves in the League, but returned to the NPFL which is where they rightfully belong at the end of the season.
