The community of Amabo, Amoji Nenwe in Enugu State is mourning the passing of Late Inspector Aloysius Nworah (Rtd), a distinguished officer whose life embodied duty, compassion, and selfless service.

Born Ogbonna Nworah to Nwoha Ude and Nwankwo Nwa Ayaru, he was christened Aloysius on 3rd February 1956 after baptism at St. Peter Catholic Church, Nenwe. He spent his early years in the village and began his education at St. Peter Catholic School Nenwe, where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate in 1960.

Driven by a passion to serve, he enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force on 1st September 1961, training at the Southern Police College Ikeja. In February 1962, he passed out as a Police Constable and began his remarkable career, first serving in Akure, Ondo Province. His early years in the Force were marked by several transfers, including postings in Ado Ekiti and participation in United Nations Peacekeeping operations in the Congo Republic.

Upon his return in 1965, he was transferred across several states—Akure, Enugu, Ogoja, Umuahia, Udi, Onitsha, and Lagos—where he held various operational and administrative roles. Inspector Nworah steadily rose through the ranks, earning promotion to Corporal in 1973, Sergeant in 1978, and Inspector in 1983. He served as Police Prosecutor, Crime Inspector, Exhibit Keeper, Station Officer, and certified detective, completing multiple advanced courses including the Detective Course 4/85 at Police Detective College Enugu.

One of the significant highlights of his career was providing security during the burial of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo while serving in Ikenne, Ogun State.

After decades of dedicated service, Inspector Nworah retired on 1st September 1996 at Agbani Police Division, Enugu State. Even in retirement, he remained a pillar of his community and family, often called upon to serve as chairman of both family and community associations.

His life was defined by humility, integrity, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to peace. Known for supporting the vulnerable and fostering unity, he was a man who detested evil in all its forms.

Inspector Nworah’s marriage to Mrs. Regina Nworah spanned over fifty years and was blessed with six children, all of whom have upheld the values he embodied.

He is survived by his children—Mr. Innocent Nworah, Mr. K.C Nworah, Mrs. Monica Ejike, Barr. Uche Nworah, Mrs. Neka Theresa Onovo, and Mrs. Ifeyinwa Charity Mbanta—as well as grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, and his brother, Simon Ikeokwu Nworah.

His legacy remains one of honour, sacrifice, and uncommon benevolence—a man who lived fully in service to his nation and community.
