VeryDarkMan calls out Mercy Johnson over alleged arrest of blogger

Popular social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, has called out Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson and her husband over the alleged arrest and detention of a woman accused of defaming the couple.
The controversy followed claims made by the woman, who alleged that Mercy Johnson’s husband had impregnated another woman and that the pregnancy was later lost. The actress and her husband were said to have reported the matter to authorities, leading to the blogger’s arrest.
Reacting in a video shared online, VeryDarkMan accused the couple of intimidation, abuse of power and oppression. He said he decided to speak out after receiving several messages concerning the detained woman’s situation.
According to the activist, the matter is a civil case that should be addressed in court rather than through detention. He urged Mercy Johnson and her husband to secure the woman’s release, adding that if they failed to do so, he would personally fund legal representation for her.
VeryDarkMan also referenced a past controversy involving Mercy Johnson, her colleague Regina Daniels and Daniels’ mother, Rita Daniels. He recalled how the actress publicly supported Regina Daniels when her brother, Samuel, was arrested during a dispute involving politician Ned Nwoko. He noted that statements made at the time could also have been considered defamatory, yet Mercy Johnson stood by her friend.
The activist stressed that influence or social status should not be used to suppress others, insisting that the detained woman should be released and the matter resolved through due legal process.
As of the time of reporting, Mercy Johnson and her husband have not publicly responded to the allegations.
