Temitope Solaja Opens Up About Body Transformation, Career Struggles and Return to Nollywood

Temitope Solaja, popularly known as Aruga, has broken her silence on the motivation behind her recent body transformation, firmly dismissing rumours that a man influenced her decision.
In a candid interview with fellow actress Biola Adebayo, Solaja revealed that her choice to undergo liposuction and a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) was deeply personal and rooted in her passion for fashion and self-confidence — not to please anyone.
“I didn’t fix my body because of any man. I don’t do that,” she said. “I love fashion, but I didn’t like how my stomach looked in clothes. That’s why I chose to undergo liposuction and BBL.”
The actress, known for her roles in Yoruba-language films, also opened up about the emotional and personal challenges she faced after relocating to the United States. Rumours swirled that she had moved abroad to have a baby, which she said was untrue.
“People thought I was pregnant when I moved to America. I would cry and wonder if I made the right choice because I was starting all over,” she shared.
In a particularly emotional moment, Solaja recalled reaching out to friend and actor Lateef Adedimeji, who was in Mecca at the time. “I called Lateef; he encouraged me to go and prosper and prayed for me. I was very emotional because I’m a teary person,” she said.
Reflecting on her early days in Nollywood, Solaja revealed her admiration for veteran actor Ogogo during the era of the iconic film Owo Blow. Her passion for acting, she said, remains undiminished despite her time away from the spotlight.
“I love my career — not because I want to be famous or well-known. If acting was like being a doctor, I would still love it,” she emphasized.
As for her future in the film industry, Solaja assured fans that she is making a return. “You guys have been asking me to come back, and I am back. I don’t know how to do it, but I will just keep doing it,” she concluded.
