Unstoppable Super Falcons Star Toni Payne Shines as Everton Crush Leicester 4-1
Everton’s latest Women’s Super League victory was fueled by a sensational display from Super Falcons star Toni Payne, whose two assists powered the Toffees to a commanding 4-1 win over Leicester City.
The 29-year-old midfielder, deployed as a lone striker, showcased her creativity and precision from the start. Kelly Gago put Everton ahead just five minutes into the game, but Leicester quickly responded, with Shannon O’Brien equalizing in the 15th minute to send both teams into halftime level at 1-1.
After the break, Payne took control. Just four minutes into the second half, she set up Katja Snoeijs to restore Everton’s lead. She later assisted Gago’s second goal, capping off an emphatic performance after Hanoka Hayashi had already extended the advantage in the 57th minutes.
Beyond her two assists, Payne was at the heart of Everton’s attacking threat. She created two big chances, completed 100% of her dribbles, made two recoveries, and delivered 15 accurate passes. With nine touches inside the opposition box, she remained a constant danger.
This latest performance extends Payne’s impressive form, with assists in back-to-back games for Everton. Her season tally now stands at four assists across all competitions.
With the victory, Everton move to eighth in the league with 13 points from 13 games. They now turn their attention to an FA Cup clash against Chelsea before a crucial league meeting with the Blues Ladies.
