Chikelue Iloenyosi, a former Super Eagles and U23 Dream Team defender has confirmed to Exclusivenews.com that a Novelty Match in honour of late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah will hold on November 20, 2024.

Iloenyosi, who's also the incumbent Chairman of Anambra State Football Association, further disclosed that the Novelty Football match will involve a Selected Team of Anambra State FA versus Nnewi All Stars.

'Gen' Iloenyosi, as he's fondly called, further revealed that the Novelty Match will take place inside the FC Ifeanyi Ubah Stadium, Ozubulu Road, Nnewi, with kick off billed for 10am.

He hinted that the Novelty Match is the current FA's little way of honouring the late Senator, who was a former Chairman of the Anambra FA.

"We cannot pay him enough for his sacrifices and contributions to Football development and promotion in the State", starts Iloenyosi when Exclusivenews.com.ng called him up Saturday morning.

"Don't forget that he (late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah), was the immediate past FA Chairman of Anambra. I took over from him.

"He gave Football a new touch in the state with his club, FC Ifeanyi Ubah, crowned Federation Cup Champions in 2016, going ahead to represent Nigeria in the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup.

"It's sad he has gone to the great beyond but his lovely memories, his passion for the game and several initiatives for the game, including the 'one family, one footballer', will continue to be cherished.

"In that regard, the FA now under my watch, decided to accord him the smallest honour we can which is the Novelty Match", Iloenyosi said with deep emotion.

The remains of the late Senator and Chief Executive Officer of Capital Oil will be committed to mother earth on November 22, 2024, at his Country Home, Otolo Nnewi, according to the family.
