Two female footballers from Inspiration Sports Academy of Gwagwalada have taken a major step in their careers after signing their first professional contracts with Cameroonian top-flight side, ITA Nbong FC.
The players, Mary Yunusa and Okon Esther, were recently unveiled by the Cameroon Women’s First Division club following successful trials. Their move marks a significant milestone for both athletes and their grassroots club.
Speaking on the development, the Manager of Inspiration Sports Academy, Kayode Olugbenga, confirmed that the duo will remain with ITA Nbong FC until the end of the current season. He noted that the players impressed the technical crew during trials with their versatility, discipline and overall performance.
“They are utility players who did very well during trials. This opportunity will definitely propel them to greater heights in their football careers,” Olugbenga said.
He described the signings as a proud moment for Inspiration Sports Academy, adding that it reflects the academy’s commitment to developing young female talents and providing them with pathways to professional football.
Inspiration Sports Academy is a grassroots football team based in Gwagwalada, Abuja, and has continued to gain recognition for nurturing young players and exposing them to opportunities beyond Nigeria.
