President Bola Tinubu has commended the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, for what he described as exceptional leadership in Nigeria’s ongoing fight against terrorism and banditry.

 

The President expressed strong optimism that the country would ultimately overcome its security challenges under Ribadu’s guidance, assuring Nigerians that the federal government remains steadfast in its commitment to restoring peace nationwide.

 

Tinubu made the remarks on Monday in Yola while inaugurating projects executed by the Adamawa State Government. He praised Ribadu’s dedication and performance, noting that his efforts have produced visible results in the battle against criminal groups operating in different parts of the country.

 

According to the President, Ribadu’s integrity, courage, and sense of duty have not only brought pride to Adamawa State, his home region in the North-East, but also enhanced Nigeria’s broader security architecture.

 

Tinubu reaffirmed that his administration is determined to defeat terrorists and bandits, stressing that the current security leadership has demonstrated both the resolve and the capacity to deliver lasting peace. He expressed full confidence in Ribadu’s ability to steer national security efforts in the right direction.

 

The President’s endorsement comes amid a public dispute involving former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai. El-Rufai recently alleged that the Office of the National Security Adviser procured a hazardous chemical, a claim that has generated political debate.

 

The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) has firmly denied the allegation and called on the former governor to submit any supporting evidence to the Department of State Services (DSS) for proper investigation.

 

El-Rufai also reportedly claimed that he was the target of an attempted arrest at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport after returning from Cairo. He alleged that the action was initiated by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) at Ribadu’s instance.

 

During a televised interview, El-Rufai further alleged that Ribadu’s telephone conversations had been intercepted and that instructions were given to security operatives to detain him. The DSS has since challenged aspects of his claims, deepening tensions surrounding the matter.

 

Despite the controversy, President Tinubu’s public endorsement signals continued confidence in Ribadu’s leadership as Nigeria confronts persistent security threats across several regions.
