The ‘Jollof’ Encounter between Ghana and Nigerian Male Football was Inconclusive. …Match Ends Goalless Awaiting 2nd Leg on December 28th.

The much awaited ‘Jollof’ CHAN encounter between the Galaxies of Ghana and the Nigerian CHAN team played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday evening was inconclusive as it ended in a barren draw giving advantage to Nigeria in the 2nd leg.
Ghana raided Nigeria tormenting the back line severally in the first half but was not lucky to get a goal and in the second half, Nigeria upgraded their game to earn a clean slate.
The inconclusive ‘Jollof’ encounter will now be decided at the Next, Gods’Will Akapabio Stadium, Uyo on Saturday 28th December when Nigeria will also present the Ghanaians Afam and Edika-Ikong soup with the Jollof.
The winner will proceed to the continental final on WAFU ticket. That final will be hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania from 1st to 28th February 2025.
Nigeria and Ghana are constant football rivals who have played 56 to 59 games between them since the early 60s. Ghana won 25 games, Nigeria won 12 games and there were 19 draws.
In these, Ghana played 23 home matches winning 16 and had 6 drawn games with a loss. Nigeria played 20 home matches winning 8 had 9 draws and 3 lose. A total 13 matches were played on neutral venues with Ghana winning 6 Nigeria won 3 and there were 4 draws.
On 6th February 2007 in London in a friendly match Ghana beat Nigeria 4-1; on 3rd February 2008 in an AFCON match in Accra Ghana won 2-1; on 28th January 2010at Luanda Angola in an AFCON match Ghana won 2-1; on 11th October 2010 at Watford in a friendly match both played goalless.
The only WAFU encounter of 24th September 2017 Ghana ran away with a 4-1 victory. In a world cup qualifier at Baba Yara Stadium on 25th March 2022 it was goalless and the return leg in Abuja played on 29th March 2022 it ended 1-1. On 28th August 2022 in a CAF match Ghana spanked Nigeria 2-0; on 3rd September 2022 in a CAF match, Nigeria beat Ghana 2-0 and in a friendly match played at Marrakech, Morocco on 22nd March 2024 Nigeria got a 2-1 win.
