Sure Flyers Football Club have emerged as champions of the 2025 Gwagwalada Football Council Ramadan Unity Cup after edging Daniel FA in a tightly contested final.

The tournament, organized by the Gwagwalada Football Council to engage the youth during the just-concluded Ramadan season, featured 20 teams and concluded on April 12, 2025, at Government Day Secondary School, Gwagwalada.

The final match between Sure Flyers FC and Daniel FA lived up to expectations, beginning with high intensity and fierce competitiveness as both teams went for each other’s jugular from the first whistle. Despite the flurry of chances at both ends, a solitary goal by Sure Flyers proved decisive, sealing their place as champions of the tournament.

Speaking after the final whistle, the First Vice Chairman of the FCT Football Association, Hon. Salihu Kolo, commended the organizers, the two finalists, and the overall quality of football on display. He also reiterated the FCT FA’s commitment to grassroots football development.

“We want to continue creating an enabling environment for all clubs in the FCT, whether in the National League, the Nationwide League, the FCT FA League, or grassroots football. Our goal is to ensure that every child with a passion for football has the opportunity to live their dream,” Kolo said.

Sponsor of the competition, Shefiu Zakari based in Italy  expressed delight at the successful conclusion of the tournament and revealed the prizel structure aimed at encouraging young talents.

“The winners received ₦300,000, the runners-up ₦150,000, and the third-place team ₦100,000. This is my own way of contributing to the growth of football in the FCT, in alignment with the vision of the FCT Football Association led by Adam Mohammed Mouktar,” he stated.
