Super Falcons to Feature in WAFU B Invitational Tournament Ahead of WAFCON 2026

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that the Super Falcons will participate in a WAFU B invitational tournament scheduled to hold in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, from 27 February to 7 March 2026, as part of preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
According to the NFF, the preparatory tournament will serve as a build-up to the continental showpiece, which is slated for 17 March to 3 April 2026 in Morocco.
NFF Director of Competitions, Ruth David, disclosed that the reigning African champions have accepted an invitation from the WAFU B Secretariat to compete in the tournament, which will feature four West African teams that have all qualified for WAFCON 2026.
She explained that the competition is designed to provide valuable competitive match exposure for the participating teams ahead of the finals, allowing coaches to assess their squads under match conditions.
David further confirmed that Nigeria has formally communicated its acceptance to the organizers, adding that more information regarding the team’s participation will be made public soon.
“The list of players submitted by head coach Justin Madugu has been forwarded to the NFF technical department and will be released through the appropriate channels in the coming days,” she said.
The tournament is expected to play a key role in fine-tuning the Super Falcons as they aim to defend their continental crown in Morocco.
