Super Falcons Striker Omorinsola Babajide Joins AS Roma Femminile
Super Falcons forward Omorinsola Babajide has completed a move to Italian Serie A Femminile side, AS Roma, signing a two-year contract that will keep her at the club until 2027.
The 27-year-old joins the Rome-based outfit on a free transfer and will wear the number 30 jersey for the Giallorosse.
Babajide, who switched international allegiance from England to Nigeria in 2023, expressed her excitement about joining one of Italy’s most prestigious clubs.
“I am honoured to join a club like AS Roma, with its rich history and ambitious vision,” she said. “I look forward to giving my all for the team, growing as a player, and representing Nigeria proudly on this new stage.”
The pacey forward also spoke about her admiration for the Italian league’s style of play.
“Serie A’s competitiveness and technical style really appealed to me. I feel like it’s similar to the Spanish league — everyone’s technical, it’s a competitive league as well, so I can’t wait to get started.”
Babajide, who previously played in England and Spain, is eager to make an impact in Italy and help AS Roma in their pursuit of domestic and continental glory.
“Just being in Rome alone is precious, it’s an amazing experience. Even with the team, gelling well with the girls, securing the Champions League spot, trying to win as much silverware as possible in the league and cup games.”
AS Roma Femminile, current Serie A champions, will be hoping Babajide’s arrival adds more firepower to their attacking options as they prepare for another campaign in both the domestic league and UEFA Women’s Champions League.
