In a recent interview on Trending on Hip TV, Lojay expressed that it is unbecoming for artists to publicly criticize award shows after failing to win.

He acknowledged that it’s natural to feel emotional about losing but emphasized that professionalism requires artists to refrain from airing grievances on public platforms.

“Everyone can get emotional about certain things, and that’s okay. But at the end of the day, you’re meant to be a professional artist, so don’t let your emotions take control,” Lojay said, stressing the importance of maintaining professionalism.

He added, “I don’t think it makes sense to start trashing an award show just because you did not win.”

The remarks come in the wake of the recent 17th Headies Awards, which faced criticism from some artists. Among them was Shallipopi, who declared on his X account that he would never attend the ceremony again.

Lojay attended the 17th Headies and won Best Male Vocal Performance.

During the interview, he also discussed the creation and success of his 2020 hit single “Monalisa,” produced by Sarz, with a remix featuring Chris Brown. The Grammy-nominated singer also shared insights into his creative process, noting that he prioritizes the listener’s experience above all.
