SPECTATOR: Electronic Sports Federation - Sports Minister awaits a baby.
By Godwin Bamigboye.
When a woman conceives, the expectation of people, particularly the immediate family members is the eventual arrival of a new member of the family. The process of conception, through the embryonic stage to birthing of the baby undoubtedly are challenging. It requires commitment and observance of certain requirements to manifest or actualize the expectation of the family.
Senator John Owan Enoh, currently the Minister of Sports Development for the Federal Republic of Nigeria is indeed in this mood for now. He is full of expectation. He said it clearly at a reconciliation meeting of stakeholders of Electronic Sports in Nigeria. He urged members of the Association to come together, do the needful and give him the opportunity to birth a Federation for Electronic Sports in Nigeria. This will be one of the legacies of the Lawmaker now Minister of Sports Development. Spectator sees the Minister's expectation and admonitions as a huge and smart action taken towards the realization of this Federation I simply refer to Federation of All Games or Federation of All Games Federation. You can imagine my own way of naming the baby.
Senator Enoh is desirous of seeing the birth of the baby and growth to maturity so that the potentials of the baby shall be realized as soon as possible for the benefits of Nigeria and Nigerians. He was emphatic on the hosting of an international electronic sports in Nigeria which will facilitate the participation of Nigeria in the Electronic Sports World championship. The meeting Will not allow these opportunities opened to Nigeria to be lost. He appreciated the fact that there are gamers, administrators and other stakeholders of the game but lamented that they were yet to be galvanized into a potent force that would help to actualize the huge opportunities available. He welcomed the Mobilization and Reconciliation efforts of concerned members, assured them of the support of the Federal Ministry of Sports Development. "Go and complete your reconciliation process and I shall be glad to birth a new Sports Federation as the first since my assumption of office". This is a paraphrase of the Minister's comments.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Mobilization and Reconciliation Committee for the Electronic Sports stakeholders, Dr. John Umoren told the Minister that Committee came into existence through the commitment and neutrality of concerned members with the intention of mobilizing all electronic sports stakeholders, reconciling members appropriately and holding elections into its Executive Board that will birth the Electronic Sports Federation for Nigeria.
The wise men who are indeed agents of peace and development are on course to facilitate the realization of this expectation, that is, the official pronouncement of the Electronic Sports as a Federation in Nigeria. This Committee is made up of five persons. They are Dr. John Umoren as Chairman. Other members are Dr. Mike Ekanem, Alhaji Tanko Abdullahi, Godwin Bamigboye and Nwafor Owen as member/Secretary.
Spectator is glad to inform you that after the very inspiring speech of the Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, the Committee gathered momentum and went into the reconciliation process. The main actors have agreed to work together as a united body in the interest of the game and Nigeria.
What signals are you receiving? I guess, the cry of a new baby in the horizon. After the challenges, there shall erupt celebration. A celebration that the Federation for All Games, I mean the Electronic Sports Federation of Nigeria or whatever name will be given to Federation shall be born soon. Be expectant.
I am Godwin Bamigboye, the Spectator.
