Abia North Senator and former governor, Orji Uzor Kalu, has confidently stated that Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo will soon join the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the move as “confirmed.”

 

Speaking with journalists at the National Assembly on Tuesday, Kalu said Soludo shares the same progressive ideology as himself, President Bola Tinubu, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, insisting that the Anambra governor has “no other alternative.”

 

“I think after all the court cases, he is a progressive like myself, President Tinubu, and the Senate President,” Kalu said. “Soludo is a progressive. He will come to APC. In fact, it is confirmed that he will join APC. He has no other alternative.”

 

Kalu dismissed suggestions that any governor was being pressured to defect to the ruling party, maintaining that the APC welcomes members purely on voluntary conviction, not coercion.

 

“Neither I nor other senators, the Senate President, or President Tinubu have ever forced anybody to join our party,” he clarified.

 

The senator’s comments come just days after Governor Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) was re-elected for a second term, defeating APC’s Nicholas Ukachukwu by a margin of over 300,000 votes in Anambra State.

 

Kalu’s remarks have since stirred political debate, as observers watch closely to see whether Soludo — known for his technocratic independence and strong APGA identity — will indeed make the highly consequential switch to the ruling APC.
