Nigerian singer Seyi Shay has underscored the importance of father figures in the upbringing of young girls, arguing that their presence plays a vital role in shaping stability and values.

Speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, the music star said that women who grow up with father figures often turn out to be more grounded, with stronger morals and better access to opportunities.

“Most women who have a father figure in their lives are generally more stable. They had a lot more access to good education and good morals growing up than the ones that don’t,” she said.

According to her, the popular narrative that “men are not important” is misleading and harmful, as it fuels family breakdowns.
“Also, there is a bar when they want to get married or when they choose male friends. All these narrative of men are not important is bullsh*t because that’s just an agenda for more divisions in our homes so that we can churn out more broken souls and more lost females and males,” she added.

The 39-year-old further reflected on her personal journey, expressing gratitude that she did not have a daughter in her 20s. She explained that with age and experience, she now feels better equipped to raise a child, guiding her to avoid mistakes she once made in relationships, friendships, and other aspects of life.
